A cleanout is a sorting project first and a hauling project second.
Sort in four piles
Keep, sell, donate, discard. Do not start hauling until the four piles exist, or you will throw away something you meant to keep.
Check documents first
Walk every drawer and file box for deeds, titles, policies and photographs before anything leaves the house.
Book a longer rental
A seven or ten day container costs far less than the stress of a two-day deadline during a difficult week.
Donation before disposal
Local Augusta-area charities will collect usable furniture, which shrinks the load and the bill.
